Our Story
About The K Corporation
A family legacy of trusted financial planning, serving clients across generations from Houston, Texas.

Our Story
Three generations of financial planning expertise
Our story began in 1929 when our founder, Lawrence G. Katz, was born in Waxahachie. In 1947, Larry moved to Houston to attend Rice Institute (now Rice University), graduating with an Accounting degree in 1950. After serving as a First Lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force, he entered the life insurance business. Through dedication and education, financial services became his passion, leading him to establish his own company.
In 1975, following the ERISA law, Larry founded The K Corporation to provide recordkeeping for qualified plans, aligning with his growing insurance and estate planning business. With his sons, Robert and Walter, joining the firm, The K Corporation became a family-run business. Inspired by his father's impact, Walter chose to follow in Larry's footsteps, mastering qualified plans and insurance strategies to help address estate tax and personal planning needs.
The K Corporation continues to thrive under Walter's leadership. While strategies have evolved, our commitment to serving clients remains steadfast. Walter often reminds his team: "Our clients don't pay us to think we know the answers—they pay us to know or find the answers to help address their financial goals effectively."
